(18/11/2021)Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School Principal’s Message
Koonung Secondary College
615 Elgar Rd, Mont Albert North / Box Hill North
Senior Campus, Mt Waverley Secondary College
100 Stephensons Rd, Mt Waverley 3149

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
Two days before I prepare this letter, our VCE 12 students participated the 2021 VCE Chinese final exams. In the last two years, they have encountered Covid-19 pandemic and most of their VCE studies have been conducted online. In XJS, they have never stopped their efforts on weekends and kept learning Chinese with great support from their teachers and parents and many SAC tests have also been conducted online. Having overcome unimaginable difficulties, they have completed their VCE learning and participated the final exam with confidence. I would like to present my sincere appreciation and congratulation to all the VCE 12 students for their hard work, to the teachers who have contributed their passion and efforts and to the parents who have accompanied their children with care and love. I wish VCE 12 students all the best and hope they could make great achievements in the final exams. Yes, you can do it!
This weekend, about 560 students (including VCE students) would enter the selective entry tests for Accelerated Chinese Program of the school among whom some are from XJS and some are from other schools. I hope you stay clam in the tests. This is not a VCE test, but a way to see how much you have got in the basic Chinese language skills. Due to the limited places available, some students might turn out joining the general Chinese classes in the end. However, don’t be upset now. This is the first 2022 selective entry test. You still have the second chance when you perform well in your class and your class teacher could recommend you enter the selective entry test again. I wish you good luck in the tests.
Last weekend, when we sent out the 2022 enrolment and payment notices, over hundreds of parents made the payment and completed the Student Information Form online within two days. There have been many parents asking for tuition fees to be paid in the last few days claiming they would make the payment soon. I would like to thank you all for your great support. Due to the influence of Covid-19, we have changed the ways we live and many have accepted them as routine now such as keeping social distance, etc. Online payment and enrolment are safer, more convenient and efficient for all of us. If there is any issue raised, our IT staff would try their best to solve it. Please read the payment notices carefully and make the payment (please screenshot the payment confirmation) and complete the form online.
We encourage you to make the payment and enrolment online if possible. Our Early Bird payment benefits (20% discount in average) would be available by 19 Dec, 2021. If you would like to pay by debit card, credit card, cheque or cash, onsite enrolment would be open (on weekends only) from this coming weekend till 18/19 Dec, 2021. The venues are as follows:
Students of Boxhill campus (Sat: 9am-4pm)
Venue: Koonung Secondary College
615 Elgar Rd, Mt Albert North / Boxhill North

Venue: Mt Waverley Secondary College, Senior Campus
100 Stephensons Rd, Mt Waverley 3149

To keep the health and safety of all our students, teachers and parents, as requested by DET, all the staff involving onsite enrolment are fully vaccinated and all the adults entering the onsite venues are required to scan QR Code for check-in and present their Covid-19 vaccination certificates. Please read the instruction signs onsite and keep social distance. If you have close contact with positive cases, or if you have symptoms of fever or cold related symptoms, please do not visit our onsite venues. Face masks are mandatory indoors onsite.
Please be aware: If possible, parents of Early-learning, prep and Year 1-5 students are expected to visit the onsite venues in the morning and parents of Year 6-11 students are expected to visit the onsite venues in the afternoon.
The enrolment hotline 03-9888 1688 is now open Tuesday to Friday (9am-4pm). You are also welcome to send email to: [email protected] (or visit our school website for campus contact details).
We would remain remote learning till the end of Term 4.
