首届世界中文作文大赛征稿通知

各位老师、同学和家长:

 

大家好!上个星期六,我们学校成功举办了2024年优秀毕业生的表彰大会和2025年高考动员大会。学校向47位在VCE中文高考中取得50分满分、40分以上高分和IB中文高考满分的毕业生颁发了证书,向10位去年的毕业班班主任老师颁发了 “杰出指导奖” 和“优秀指导奖” 。当天,获奖师生们都在会上分享教好、学好中文的经历和体验,传授学好中文秘诀。其中,优秀毕业生们在谈到学习的自信和坚持之外,都不约而同谈到了中文阅读和写作对提高中文水平起到不可替代的关键作用。今天,我就在这里推荐我校学生来参加一个国际中文写作大赛 – 首届世界中文作文大赛,希望以此对我校的中文教学起到促进和推动的作用。

 

本届中文作文大赛由我校1-10年使用的课本的出版方 — 暨南大学出版社等单位主办,由孔子第77代后裔孔亚平先生等专家、学者担任评委。征文主题分三个组别(以日校年级为准):

1,小学组的主题是 “介绍我的中文名字” 。内容方向:介绍自己已有或想起的中文名字的含义、由来及其背后的文化内涵,感受语言与文化的联结。

2,初中组的主题是 “关于中国的三个关键词” 。内容方向:请选择三个关键词(如文化、美食、工业、科技、人情味等),并结合生活观察,阐述自己对中国的印象。比如:中国的火锅、机器人和抖音(TikTok)。

3,高中组的主题是 “十年之后” 。内容方向:请尽情展开自己想象的翅膀,描述十年之后个人或社会在科技、生活、教育等方面可能会发生的变化。

 

参赛作文的要求必须是:

1,原创性:作品须为未公开发表的原创内容,严禁抄袭、代笔。

2,体裁形式:文体不限(散文、诗歌、小说等),鼓励创新表达。

3,字数要求:小学组不少于200字;初中组不少于400字;高中组不少于600字。

4,稿件格式:以Word文档提交,标题注明(六一征文+组别+国家/地区),文末附作者姓名、年龄、学校、指导教师。

 

参赛方式:

请在5月27日(星期二)之前由各班班主任汇总,检查好格式后以班级为单位发到学校邮箱[email protected],邮件标题 “参赛作文” (不接受学生单独发稿,请谅解)。

 

我个人认为这个作文比赛的主题和要求难度不高,比较适合我们海外华校的学生参加。因此,建议我校4—11年级各班班主任老师根据学生的日校具体年级的实际情况,选择与他们年级相符合的主题鼓励学生参加并可作些适当的赛前辅导。我相信,我们学生一定会在老师和家长们的辅导、支持下写出自己的好作文,体现我们学校中文教学的水准。

Principal’s Message

 

Dear teachers, students and parents,

 

Last Saturday, our school successfully held the 2024 Outstanding Graduates Award Ceremony and the 2025 VCE Exam Mobilization Meeting. We presented certificates to 47 graduates who achieved full marks (50 points) or high scores (above 40 points) in the VCE Chinese exam, as well as full marks in the IB Chinese exam. Awards for “Outstanding Achievement” and “Outstanding Instructor” were also given to 10 VCE teachers of 2024 graduating classes.

 

During the event, the award-winning teachers and students shared their experiences and insights on teaching and learning Chinese effectively and offered valuable tips on mastering the language. The outstanding graduates, in particular, emphasized not only the importance of confidence and perseverance but also highlighted the irreplaceable role of Chinese reading and writing in improving language proficiency. Today, I would like to take this opportunity to recommend our students to participate in an international Chinese writing competition — the First World Chinese Writing Competition.

 

This year’s Chinese Writing Competition is organized by Jinan University Press — the publisher of the textbooks XJS has used from Years 1 to 10 — along with other institutions. The judging panel includes experts and scholars such as Mr. Yaping Kong, the 77th-generation descendant of Confucius.

The writing topics are divided into three groups (based on day school year levels):

1.     The topic for the Primary-level Group is “Introduce My Chinese Name.”
Content focus: Explain the meaning, origin and cultural significance of your existing or imagined Chinese name and reflect on the connection between language and culture.

2.     The topic for the Junior-level Group is “Three Keywords About China.”
Content focus: Choose three keywords (such as culture, food, industry, technology, human touch, etc.) and based on your own observations, describe your impression of China. For example: hotpot, robots and TikTok (Douyin).

3.     The topic for the Senior-level Group is “Ten Years from Now.”
Content focus: Let your imagination soar and describe the possible changes that might occur in areas such as technology, daily life or education — either in your personal life or in society as a whole.

 

The requirements for the submitted writing are as follows:

1.     Originality: The work must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism and ghost-writing are strictly prohibited.

2.     Form and Style: There are no restrictions on literary form (e.g., prose, poetry, fiction, etc.) and creative expression is encouraged.

3.     Word Count Requirement:
– Primary-level Group: at least 200 characters
– Junior-level Group: at least 400 characters
– Senior-level Group: at least 600 characters

4.     Manuscript Format: Submit as a Word document, with the title indicating (Children’s Day Writing + Group + Country/Region). At the end of the essay, include the author’s name, age, school and the instructor.

 

How to Submit:
Class teachers are expected to collect and review the writing for proper format, then submit them as a batch by May 27 (Tuesday) to the school email: [email protected]. Email subject line: “Competition Writing” (Individual student submissions will not be accepted. Thank you for your understanding).

 

I personally believe that the themes and requirements of this writing competition are not very difficult and are quite suitable for our overseas Chinese school students. Therefore, I suggest that the teachers of Year 4 -11 select the themes that best match their students’ day school year levels, encourage participation and provide some appropriate pre-competition guidance.

 

I am confident that, with the support and guidance of both teachers and parents, our students will write excellent essays that reflect the quality of Chinese language education at XJS.
