放假通知暨假期寻根之旅研学活动预告

各位老师、同学和家长：
大家好！本周末为我校今年第二学期最后一个教学周（早教学前部7月5日补课），从6月30日至7月25日为学校假期。学校假期期间联系电话：03-98881688，电邮：[email protected]。 第三学期7月26日/27日开学。
第二学期假期期间学校统一安排12年级学生在7月19日（星期六）上课。此外，应同学们的要求会开设一些假期专项高考强化辅导班，学生自愿报名参加（12年级学生可向班主任老师了解详情）。
这里，我要跟大家报告一个好消息：在刚刚结束的有30多个国家5000多位学生参加的首届世界中文作文比赛中，我校学生获取了优异成绩。其中，张钰晓同学获小学组特等奖、孙辰晨同学获初中组特等奖，还有5位同学获得一等奖（总获奖名额30位）、8位同学获得二等奖（总获奖名额60位）、35位同学获得三等奖（总获奖名额120位）。我校获一、二、三等奖学生人数占获奖总数的23%。这再次证明了我校的中文教学质量是过硬的，我们的老师和同学是值得被点赞表扬的。获奖学生的奖励我会在下面的寻根之旅和研学活动介绍中提到，请注意阅读。
随着假期的到来，老师、同学和家长们都在议论到哪里去过怎样的假期生活更有意义。去年我们向同学们推荐了一些假期赴中国寻根之旅和文化研学活动，因办得好反响热烈，广受老师们的好评以及同学、家长们的欢迎（这些活动收费合理，均为非盈利性）。所以，还没放假就有不少同学和家长向学校询问今年有哪些假期活动可以推荐参加。我很高兴大家对赴中国参加寻根之旅和研学活动有兴趣，这是了解中国学好中华文化知识的最好体验，也毫无疑问会提高学生学好中文的兴趣进而促进中文学习。不过，大家一定要知道无论哪个寻根之旅和研学活动均有名额限制，我们通常会在得到消息的第一时间向大家公布，您如有兴趣参加需要及时报名争取名额，我们也会及时转告给主办方为您锁定名额。这里，我把今年我们得到的寻根之旅和研学活动信息跟大家报告一下，凡是尚有名额的活动欢迎您尽快报名：
1， 第二学期假期（7月7日-18日）赴中国广东省肇庆市寻根之旅活动，23个名额已满；
2， 第三学期假期（9月21日-10月1日）赴中国福建省泉州市寻根之旅活动，30个名额还有9个名额，有兴趣报名参加的请点击（活动内容安排会在您报名后由主办方发给您）；
3， 第三学期假期（9月19日-29日）赴中国华东（上海、杭州、苏州）科创体验研学活动，46个名额已满；
4， 第三学期假期（9月20日至10月4日之间）赴中国华脉寻根（北京、郑州、开封、登封、洛阳、安阳）8日研学活动： 逛故宫、到天坛、去少林寺、进中国文字博物馆、游清明上河园等。凡是参加首届世界中文作文比赛获得特等奖、一等奖、二等奖、三等奖的同学报名参加的话，将获得不同比例的参团费用的特别优惠（国际机票费用自理），其中特等奖学生获免团费奖励（国际机票自理）。了解本次活动内容介绍请点击，暂无名额限制，有兴趣报名请点击；
5， 第四学期假期（12月19日-29日）“Real China 云南（昆明、禄丰、大理、腾冲）研学之旅”，体验多民族风情，游览自然风光，探索生命大爆发化石群和武侠小说中“大理国”的真实遗址，学做鲜花饼、扎染、古风油纸伞等非遗工艺。限额20位，有兴趣报名参加的请点击（活动内容安排会在您报名后由主办方发给您）。

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
This weekend is the last week of Term 2 at XJS (MWNPS campus will extend its Term 2 to Saturday 5 July). The school holiday will run from 30 June to 25 July. During the school holiday, you can contact us at 03-9888 1688 or email us at [email protected]. Term 3 will begin on 26/27 July.
During the Term 2 break, the school has scheduled classes for Year 12 students on Saturday 19 July. In addition, at the request of the students, special holiday intensive VCE final exam preparatory courses will be offered. Participation is voluntary (Year 12 students can consult their class teachers for details).
Here, I would like to share some good news with you. In the recently concluded First World Chinese Essay Competition, which attracted over 5,000 students from more than 30 countries, our students achieved excellent results. Among them, ZHANG Yuxiao won the Grand Prize in the primary school group, and SUN Chenchen won the Grand Prize in the junior school group. In addition, 5 students received First Prizes (out of a total of 30 First Prize recipients), 8 students received Second Prizes (out of 60 Second Prize recipients), and 35 students received Third Prizes (out of 120 Third Prize recipients). The number of our students who received First, Second and Third Prizes accounts for 23% of the total awards. This once again demonstrates the high quality of Chinese language teaching at XJS, and our teachers and students truly deserve praise and recognition. I will mention the award benefits for the winning students in the following section on the Chinese Culture Camp and study tour activities, so please read carefully.
As the holiday approaches, teachers, students and parents have been discussing where and how to spend a meaningful vacation. Last year, we recommended several Chinese Culture Camp and cultural study tours to China for the students during the holiday. These programs were very well-organized, received enthusiastic responses, were highly praised by teachers and warmly welcomed by students and parents (the programs are reasonably priced and non-profit). As a result, even before the holiday starts, many students and parents have already been inquiring about recommended activities for this year.
I am very pleased that everyone is interested in participating in Chinese Culture Camp and study tours in China. These are excellent opportunities to learn about China and to experience Chinese culture firsthand, which undoubtedly enhances students’ interest and motivation in learning Chinese. However, it is important to note that all Chinese Culture Camp and study tours have limited spots. We always announce the information as soon as we receive it and if you are interested, please register promptly to secure your place. We will also notify the organizers in a timely manner to help lock in your spot.
Here, I would like to share with you the Chinese Culture Camp and study tour activities we have received information about for this year. For those programs that still have available places, you are welcome to sign up as soon as possible:
1. The Chinese Culture Camp to Zhaoqing city, Guangdong province of China during the Term 2 holiday (7–18 July) has reached full capacity with all 23 spots filled.
2. The Chinese Culture Camp to Quanzhou City, Fujian Province of China during Term 3 holiday (21 September – 1 October) still has 9 out of 30 spots available. If you are interested in participating, please click to register (the event itinerary will be provided by the organizer after you register).
3. The Science and Innovation Experience Study Tour to East China (Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou) during the Term 3 holiday (19 – 29 September) has reached full capacity with all 46 spots filled.
4. The 8-day Roots-Seeking Study Tour to Central China (Beijing, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Dengfeng, Luoyang and Anyang) during the Term 3 holiday (20 September – 4 October) when participants are to visit the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Shaolin Temple, the Chinese Character Museum and the Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden . Students who won the Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize or Third Prize in the First World Chinese Essay Competition will receive special discounts on the study tour fee (international flight costs are self-funded), with Grand Prize winners being exempt from the study tour fee (international flight costs are self-funded). 5. The “Real China” Study Tour to Yunnan (Kunming, Dali and Tengchong) during the Term 4 holiday (19–29 December). Participants will experience the diverse cultures of various Chinese ethnic groups, enjoy natural scenery, explore the fossil sites of the Cambrian Explosion and the real historical sites of the “Kingdom of Dali” featured in martial arts novels and learn intangible cultural heritage crafts such as making flower cakes, tie-dyeing and traditional oil-paper umbrellas.
