关于评选年度优秀学生的通知

各位老师、同学和家长：

大家好！截止到本周一下午，我校所有VCE12年级学生已经完成了今年VCE中文高考。我对今年所有12年级毕业班的学生们充满信心，他们在疫情期间进入VCE中文学习，克服了种种困难，受益于我们最优秀的VCE教师团队，还有提供强大支持的热心家长。我相信，他们一定会取得高考的好成绩。本周末学校将会举办2022年12年级学生毕业典礼，为他们的高中中文学习留下难忘的记忆。

随着VCE高考的到来，我校整个2022学年的学习也即将结束。因此，我要在这里宣布2022年度优秀学生评选开始。依照《新金山中文学校学生奖励条例》的规定，我校每年开展年度最佳学生和优秀学生的评选活动。今年我们将恢复因受疫情影响而停发的金牌、银牌，凡是被评上年度最佳学生奖的同学，将获得学校颁发的“年度最佳学生奖”金牌一枚；凡是被评上优秀学生奖的学生，将获得学校颁发的“优秀学生奖”银牌一枚。在学习中取得明显进步的学生，将获得“学习进步奖”证书一张。

学校鼓励学生参加与中文学习相关的各项竞赛活动，凡是2022年在国际性比赛中获得一等奖的学生，可由班主任老师提名、校长批准授予“年度最佳学生奖”金牌，在全校各项比赛中获得第一名的学生可获“年度优秀学生奖”（上述学生需无违反学生守则行为）。

评优活动的目的旨在肯定和表扬一批能坚持认真学习中文并且成绩优秀的学生，希望以此鼓励更多的学生学好中文，提高他们的学习积极性，学好中文。金牌、银牌学生有一定比例。但是，考虑到某些班级编制和学生来源的特殊性，学校将适当增加一些评选名额，比如中文精英班、家庭非中文背景的学生和班级人数较多的学生。

学校要求各班班主任老师要从对每一位学生认真负责任的态度出发，做好学生教育工作，严格按照“学生奖励条例”的具体规定，公平、公正地做好本次年度优秀学生的评选工作，以达到评优活动的真正目的。

此外，在2021年被评为年度最佳学生和优秀学生的同学，因疫情而领到获奖证书但没有领到金牌、银牌的同学，如果2023年继续注册在我校学习的，学校将会给他们特别制作2021年最佳学生金牌和优秀学生银牌并增发给他们。此项金牌、银牌增发活动会在2023年第一学期开学后举行，所有2021年度优秀学生名单以学校网站公布为准。

此外，我校2023年学生注册交费已经开始，家长可上网在学校网站（www.xjs.vic.edu.au）“2023学年报名交费攻略”点击注册并转账交费，所有各年级学费标准请阅网站上的“2023年招生简章”。我校继续保持提前交费（早鸟）优惠，以及给予同一家庭第三孩子、新金山校友、退休教师和现任教师的学费优惠，请到各校区办公室注册登记。

Principal’s Message

Dear teachers, students and parents,

I would like to inform you that all our VCE12 students have completed their VCE final exams by Monday 14 November. I’m very confident about our VCE12 students who have entered their VCE study during covid-19 epidemic time and have gone through various difficulties with support from our excellent VCE teacher teams and parents and family members. I believe they would make great achievements in their VCE final exams. This weekend, a VCE Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for year12 students and I hope it would bring unforgettable memory in their lives.

Our 2022 school year is coming to an end as well. I would like to announce the selection of 2022 out-performed students would start soon. XJS presents Student of the Year Award and Outstanding Student Award to out-performed students each year. In 2022, we would resume presenting the gold and silver medals. The Student of the Year Award receivers would be given gold medals and the Outstanding Student Award receivers would be given silver medals. The students who have improved greatly in 2022 would be given certificates of Best Progress Award.

Moreover, XJS has encouraged students to participate in various competitions in Chinese language learning. The students who have won the first prizes in international competitions could be recommended by their class teachers and approved by the school Principal to be given gold medals of the Student of the Year Award. Those who have won the first prizes in competitions within the school could be given silver medals of the Outstanding Student Award (as long as the students above have behaved well at XJS).

The purpose of selecting out-performed students is to acknowledge and encourage the students who have persisted in Chinese language learning and performed well which would in return encourage more students to learn Chinese language with greater motivation. The amount of gold medals and silver medals are limited. Considering the size of classes, the quota for some classes would be slightly increased such as the students in Accelerated Chinese Program, the non-Chinese background students and the classes with big number of students.

Class teachers are expected to treat the selection process seriously and respectfully to make sure it is fair and just for each student.

In addition, for those who got the Student of the Year Award certificates and the Outstanding Student Award certificates without medals in 2021, if they keep on learning Chinese at XJS in 2023, specially made 2021 gold and silver medals would be presented to them during 2023 Term 1. The 2021 out-performed student lists can be found on the school’s website.

The 2023 enrolment is open now. Parents are encouraged to complete the enrolment and payment process online by visit our school website at https://xjs.vic.edu.au. The tuition fees can be found in the 2023 Admission Guide online as well. Discount would be available as usual for early-bird payment and for the third child of a family, children of current and retired teachers and XJS alumnus (please visit offices onsite for verification).
