各位老师、同学和家长：

大家好！上个星期周末，我校第二学期正式开学了。我们根据维州教育部的规定，全面开展了网课“云课堂”形式的教学。我很高兴在这里向大家报告：我校各校区除早教班之外，学前班、1年级至VCE12年级的310个班级的5500位学生中有超过96%比例的学生在家中接受了网课教育。

如此高比例的学生在线出勤率超出我们的预料。这很好地证明了我们新金山中文学校社区的老师、学生和家长们，在面对新冠肺炎病毒疫情的特殊情况之下，大家团结一致、保持信念、克服困难、坚持学习，尤其是在周一至周五的日校学习之外，坚持周末学习中文和中华文化。

我们在部分校区向学生和家长发放了电子版的网课教学反馈表，征询对网课教学的意见和潜在需求，以便为进一步提高网课教学质量提供技术参考。在已经收到的反馈统计显示：对中文网课教学表示满意的为96%（其中87%表示很满意和非常满意），3.4%的家长表示孩子因为年龄小，在网课的形式下有些坐不住，0.6%的家长因控制网课软件不当听不清老师讲课或不满每堂课40分钟限时等原因。这些问题，我们将设法帮助解决。总体上说，我们第一周的全校网课取得了成功。但是，我们一定会不断改进，给大家提供优质的云课堂。

在这里，我要向所有的老师、同学和家长们表示感谢！同时，也要祝贺在大家的共同努力和参与下，新金山中文教学“云课堂”正式建立并成功运行了！

本周六为澳纽军团日。由于我们第一学期提前放假，教育部同意我们学校照常上课。在此，我们谨向所有为澳大利亚牺牲的英雄们致敬！

Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School Term 2 Notice

Dear teachers, students and parents,

Last weekend, our Term 2 started as scheduled. Based on the suggestions of the Department of Education and Training, we delivered online classes for our students for Chinese language learning. I’m pleased to inform you that 96% of the 5500 students enrolled in 310 classes from Foundation to Grade 12 (not including Early Learning groups) joined our virtual classes last weekend.

Such a high attendance rate of online learning has exceeded our expectation and it has also witnessed the cooperation, contribution and efforts of all our teachers, students and parents of school community on Chinese language and culture learning at this difficult time of COVID-19.

We have sent out online learning survey to students and parents among a few campuses asking feedbacks on their online learning experience for our future improvement and have received very positive results. 96% of survey receivers are satisfied with our virtual classes (87% are very satisfied and absolutely satisfied) and 3.4% of parents claimed that young students could not concentrate in class in online learning environment and 0.6% claimed not having heard teacher’s voice clearly due to false operation of the software or not happy with 40-minute limit of each session, etc. We would try our best to solve these problems soon. In general, our first week online classes turned out to be a success. We would keep on working to provide a better online learning services for our students.

I would like to present my sincere appreciation to all our teachers, students and parents for their contribution and cooperation and glad to let you know that our virtual classes have so far worked smoothly.

This coming Saturday (25 April) is ANZAC Day. Due to the early finish of Term 1, we got the approval from DET that we could run Chinese language classes on this Saturday. I would like to pay our respect to the nation’s heroes. Let’s meet at the virtual classes on Saturday.
