Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
Our Term 3 would start on this coming weekend (11/12 July) and we would keep on our online learning temporarily. It is critical that we keep on learning Chinese language and culture at this special stage when we follow the relevant regulations regarding COVID-19 as the rest of the Victorians. We believe that we could conquer the virus in the end while keeping on studying and working.
Initially, we planned to keep prep and year 1-10 students online in Term 3 until the situation is eased and VCE 11 and 12 students could go back to school as long as the mainstream schools from whom we rent classrooms permit.
However, as the new stage 3 restrictions take effect this week, we have to put the safety and health of all our teachers, students and parents in the most priority. We now have to decide to make the first week of Term 3 online for all the VCE 11 and 12 students and we would follow the further instructions from DET as the situation progresses.
I would like to present my sincere appreciation to all our VCE 11 and 12 teachers, students and parents for their understanding and huge support. I would also like to thank all the parents who collect textbooks during school holidays at Xin Jin Shan Chinese Library for their performance in observing social distancing regulations. Now we recommend all the parents not to collect textbooks onsite due to the new stage 3 restrictions (unless it is arranged by the specific campuses) and we would try to send you digital copies of the materials.
From 14th June, over 880 students have participated in the Online Chinese Culture Camp which would end on 13th July. The event has been largely applauded by students and parents. 35 volunteer teachers have interacted with the participants every day during the event supporting them to accomplish the various learning tasks. Up to now, the participants have accomplished over 8000 learning tasks and news reports about their performance have been widely reported in regional and national media in China as well as Chinese language media in Australia.
At this special time with COVID-19, I know all our teachers, students and parents have taken pains in online learning and teaching. I wish we could keep on improving our teaching quality, students persist in learning and parents support the children and school as usual. Let’s work together and carry forward the Chinese culture.
Let’s see you online on weekend.
Best regards,
Kevin Hu, Principal
