2023年学年结束放假通知
各位老师、同学和家长:
大家好!我们新金山中文学校2023学年到本周末(12月2日/3日)顺利结束了(周六早教学前部因10月14日全民公投停课延迟到12月9日结束)。2023年全校从早教、学前、1-12年级近4000位学生和近200位教师,在我们学校社区这个大家庭里传授中华文化、学习中文和中华文化,我们取得了一系列令人瞩目的成绩:
我校学生沈怡然、姚舒航等29位同学分别在第二十三届世界华人学生作文大赛中获得一等奖、二等奖、三等奖,还有数十位同学获得大赛颁发的优秀奖,再次证明了我校中文教学的扎实水准。
我校去年高考中文SLA语种满分冠军刘凌玉同学,因在中文学习上的突出表现获得维州学生最高成就奖—“州长奖”。
我校顾梓译、黎善彤等18位同学在第二届五大洲华裔青少年中国汉字棋邀请赛总决赛中分别获得一等奖、二等奖、三等奖,在海外华校中名列前茅;杨佳玥、吕金泽等83位同学在澳大利亚分会场的比赛中获得一等奖、二等奖、三等奖。
我校学生陈思晗同学以一曲优美、高水平的古筝表演《乡韵》,在上个周末结束的维多利亚州华校联络会举办的第二届“华文杯”—2023年维州华裔青少年才艺大赛总决赛中夺得金奖。
我校与澳大利亚宁波同乡会、澳中青少年交流协会等社团合作,协助组织学生和老师分别赴中国浙江宁波、福建泉州参加由中国侨联举办的“发现河姆渡,我们来啦”和“世遗泉州,悦见丰泽”文化寻根活动,收获满盈。尤其值得一提的是宁波营活动是疫情三年后重启举办的寻根之旅活动的第一营。
2023年我校有300多位12年级的同学顺利完成高中中文和VCE中文课程。学校在上个星期六举办了隆重的毕业典礼,邀请毕业班老师、学生和家长参加。学生代表和老师们分享学习经验和教学体会,互勉互励,学习礼仪,表演才艺,庆祝毕业,依依不舍。
2023年全校有近400位学生被评为年度最佳学生,他们将会被颁发新金山金牌;全校有近880位同学被评为年度优秀学生,他们将会被颁发新金山银牌。还有数以百计的学生因学习进步显著将会被颁发“学习进步”奖状(所有获奖学生名单将会在学校官网上公布:www.xjs.vic.edu.au 欢迎查阅)。
截止12月1日,我校已有近1300位学生完成了2024年的注册交费(即,相当于现在每三位学生中至少有1位完成了注册交费),这对学校明年的教师聘任和班级设置提供了帮助。学校会在放假后的两个周末12月9日/10日、12月16日/17日,在Mt Waverley 中学高中部体育馆接待家长咨询,协助办理注册和交费事宜。我们重申:在12月22日之前办理注册交费的可享受每学期学费的25%的优惠(不包括注册费),同一家庭第三子女可享受每学期学费50%的优惠(不包括注册费)。所有完成注册交费的家长会收到即时发回的邮件,然后会在明年开学前一周收到具体的开学通知。
我校办公室将从12月23日起至明年1月14日放假休息,1月15日起恢复办公。放假期间,家长们如有问题咨询请发电邮与学校联系(各校区电邮地址请在学校官网上查询:www.xjs.vic.edu.au)。
在放假初期,第二十四届世界华人学生作文大赛征稿还在进行之中,我校截稿时间为12月8日(星期五)晚,有兴趣参加的同学请向班主任老师索要比赛专用纸(电子版),由班主任老师统一发给学校邮箱。
此外,特别向大家推荐上海华文教育品牌“华语侨心”推出的全新系列《看中国.观上海. 学中文》(微信版,中英文双语,请见本文下方),我相信,这个全新优质的中文资讯和学习资源平台一定会给大家学习中文带来新的体验。

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
Our Term 4 ends this weekend (2/3 Dec) (MN campus would have an extra week until 9 Dec due to the temporary closure on 14 Oct Referendum Day). In 2023, about 4,000 students from Early-learning, pre to Year 12 classes and nearly 200 teachers have made great achievement in learning and teaching Chinese language and culture in our school community.
Yiran Shen, Shuhang Yao and other 27 students have gained first-prize, second-prize and third-prize in the 23th World Chinese Students Writing Competition and dozens of students have been given Outstanding Awards, which demonstrates the solid level of our Chinese language teaching quality.
Lingyu Liu was given Premier’s VCE Award for the excellent achievement in 2022 VCE Chinese SLA exam with full score.
Ziyi Gu, Shantong Li and other 16 students won the first-prize, second-prize and third-prize in the finals of the 2nd Five Continents Chinese Youth Chinese Chess Competition, making our school among the best. Jiayue Yang, Jinze Lv and other 81 students won the prizes in the sub-venue of Australia.
Sihan Chen won the gold medal last week in the finals of 2023 Victorian Chinese Youth Talent Show organised by Victoria Chinese Language Schools Association with a beautiful and extraordinary performance of Chinese Guzheng.
XJS has worked with Australian Ningbo Association Inc. and Australia China Youth Exchange Association Inc. encouraging students and teachers to participate Chinese Culture Camp in Ningbo and Quanzhou in China and the events have been much applauded by students and teachers participated and Ningbo Camp is the first camp resumed in China after Covid pandemic.
In 2023, over 300 Year 12 students have completed their Year 12 Chinese or VCE Chinese learning courses and a graduation ceremony was organised last Saturday on the senior campus of MWSC. Student representatives and teachers shared their experience of learning and teaching at XJS, presented their talents in arts and hugged each other at this special stage of their lives.
About 400 students have been awarded Student of the Year in 2023 and would be given gold medals to appreciate their efforts in learning, 88 students would be awarded Outstanding Student with silver medals and hundreds of students would be given certificates as Best Progress students (the awarded student list would be available on our school website at www.xjs.vic.edu.au).
Up to 1 December, about 1300 students (equivalent to 1/3 of current students) have completed their 2024 registration with payment, which would help us a lot in 2024 teachers and classes arrangements. The Hall on the senior campus of MWSC would still be open for 2024 enrolment and registration for two extra weeks (9/10 Dec, 16/17 Dec). We would like to reaffirm that all the students could enjoy 25% off each term’s tuition fees (excluding registration fee) by 22 Dec 2023, and the 3rd enrolled child of a family could enjoy 50% off each term’s tuition fees (excluding registration fee). Parents who have completed the process of 2024 registration would receive a confirmation email from XJS and class placement notice would be received one week before the start of 2024 Term 1.
Our school office would be closed from 23 December 2023 to 14 January 2024. During holiday closure period, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by emails (the email address of each campus could be found at our school website (www.xjs.vic.edu.au).
During the school holiday, the 24th World Chinese Students Writing Competition would still call for papers by Friday 8 December. If you are interested, please contact your class teacher for digital copy of writing paper template. All the works collected would be emailed to school by class teachers.
Moreover, I would like to recommend you a new series of ‘Observing China, Exploring Shanghai, Learning Chinese’ (please find the bilingual Wechat version below). I believe this new high quality Chinese resources would give you brand-new experience in Chinese language learning.
Summer is coming and so are the Christmas and New Year. This is the season for gathering and travelling with families and friends. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and a safe, pleasant and relaxed holiday ahead.
In the end, please allow me to present my sincere appreciation to all the teachers, students and parents for your great trust and support in 2023. You are the power behind us. We will cherish this power and encourage ourselves to provide better teaching and administration services in the future.
