(English version available in the end)

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
I would like to remind you that the school would organise Curriculum Day on 8 June, therefore, there will be no class on the weekend 8/ 9 June. Please prepare for the weekend in advance.
I would also like to report some issues since the start of Term 2.
First, the class teaching has been done quite well since the start of Term 2. Our focus of Term 2 is strengthening the teaching management and improving the teaching quality. Teachers would be arranged to observe other teachers’ classes, providing them an opportunity to learn from each other and share their teaching experiences. Teachers would also take this opportunity to understand different students, their specific needs of learning and in turn try to improve their teaching skills based on students. Teaching is the focus of XJS and we would keep on providing high quality teaching for our students.
Second, chid safety is also the focus of XJS. Due to the change of season and the spread of virus, each week there are some students leaving school early due to not feeling well or even vomiting in class. Although there are first-aid trained staff onsite with first-aid kits available, we could not provide further medical support for students. For the health and safety of all our teachers and students, please keep children at home and visit your family doctors if you find your child/ren with fever, diarrhoea or stomach upset.
We have also found a few teachers, students and parents tripped over on campus in Term 2. Apart from some floor problems (we have urgently informed MWSC and the floor has been fixed soon), we’ve noticed that some students tripped over due to wearing oversized shoes or slippers to school. Parents are reminded to pay attention to this issue. By the way, a big dog out of leash entered a classroom the other day. Although no one was hurt, both students and the teacher were scared. I believe the owner loose the leash by accident. However, please be aware that no animals are allowed to enter the campus.
Moreover, many parents have approached me regarding the study tour this year. I have introduced you a Yunan Study Tour organised by Yunzhongwen Education Centre and Phoenix Travel under the instruction of Chinese Language Education Funds. The study tour is between 30 June to 14 July when students are expected to visit Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Shangrila and Chengdu in China. Currently over 30 students have registered for the tour and the event organiser has invited some of our VCE teachers to go with the students as volunteer group leaders. Please contact the event organiser Phoenix Travel if you would like to know more.
Please keep warm and healthy. Let’s see you on campus this weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin Hu, Principal
