学校放假重要通知

各位老师、同学和家长：
大家好！我校今年第二学期的教学在本周末全部结束，从6月24日起至7月19日学校放假。第三学期开学日期为7月20日/21日。
借此机会，我跟大家报告一下我校在6月8日举办了年度教师教研日活动的情况。首先，所有没有领到教育部规定的儿童安全培训证书的教职员工，在当天上午参加了由维多利亚州社区语言学校联盟的儿童安全专员主持的培训课程。其次，中午学校召开了全校教师大会。接着，整个下午，早教学前和1年级至9年级教师分别参加了各个年级组安排的教学实践交流Workshop活动，10年级至12年级的教师举行集中培训（大课）和12年级分中文语种（即，第一语言、第二语言、第二语言高级、中国语言文化和社会）的分组培训（小课）。这是疫情后的第一次全校教师集中面对面的大型教研活动，老师们都非常珍惜，大家认真参加各项教研交流和培训，相信参加教研日受到的启示、学到的经验和方法等，将会被老师们化在教学实践之中，而这也正是我们学校取得成就的成功之道。
本学期，我校在各年级举行了期末统一考试，旨在全面了解各年级学生学习和掌握中文知识和技能的具体情况。班主任老师们会对学生们在上半年的学习做出一个评估，老师们还会在下半年的教学中改进教学方法，以便有的放矢，因材施教，有效地提高中文教学质量。当然，班主任老师们也会向同学们布置适量的假期作业，希望家长协助督促孩子按时完成，让孩子保持中文学习的持续性。同时，我在这里也建议有一定中文基础的同学，可以在假期里对下半年学习的课文作预习，以此来培养自学能力，这既可巩固对已学知识的记忆，也会在开学后提高听课效率。
我了解到有不少家庭安排在假期外出旅游，其中有相当多的将会去北半球过他们的暑假。读万卷书行万里路，旅游是个特殊的学习、休闲和成长的经历，丰富的游历生活和旅游途中人际交往，也相当于是一种行走式的教育过程。我祝大家旅途愉快、满载而归！祝学校社区所有人有一个丰富的假期生活！

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
Our Term 2 ends on this coming weekend (22/23 June). Term 2 break starts from 24 June to 19 July. Term 3 starts from 20/21 July.
I would like to let you know that XJS organised a Curriculum Day on 8 June when teachers, admin staff and volunteers attended a Child Safe Training in the morning organised by Community Languages Victoria, participated a school meeting after lunch and joined workshops in the afternoon for each year levels up to year 9 sharing teaching experience and skills with each other. Year 10 to 12 teachers participated the training specifically designed for senior levels especially for VCE teaching in First Language, Second Language, Second Language Advance and Chinese Language, Culture and Society. The workshops and training have been greatly applauded and appreciated as teachers learn from each other as well as being inspired by others’ presentation. This is how we become what we are today.
In Term 2, we organised end-of-semester exams for all year levels aiming to understand how well students have learnt in the past few months. Class teachers would prepare reports for semester 1 and plan for teaching adjustments for the rest of the year. Students would also get their holiday homework this weekend. It would be much appreciated if parents could support students in their homework, making sure their learning of Chinese language does not stop during the term break. I would also like to suggest students with solid foundation of Chinese preview your textbooks for semester 2 to develop your self-learning habits and capabilities. I’m sure you would benefit from this preparation when Term 3 starts.
I’m aware that many families have already planned trips during the term break and many of them would enjoy some summer time in the north hemisphere. Traveling is a unique life experience where you learn new things, make new friends and develop social skills. It also promotes learning and education beyond classrooms. I wish you a wonderful journey on holiday and come back with rich harvest and experience.
