新金山中文学校各年级精英班2024年招生预告

各位老师、同学和家长：

大家好！上一次，我跟大家报告了我校2024年学生报名、注册和交费工作的即将开始，不少家长来询问如何让自己的孩子进入精英中文班学习。今天，我就在这里专门跟大家讲一讲新金山中文学校精英中文班，给我们的精英班招生做个宣传。

一，新金山精英中文班的历史

我校从2007年起率先在墨尔本华校中开设基础中文（1-4年级）精英班以及高中（10年级，又称“VCE预备班”）强化班（后统一改称为“精英班”）。数年后，我校逐步健全了1-12年级各年级的精英中文班，并在此基础上设立了基础中文（1-9年级）精英部（即“精英中文部”）指导教学，而高中（10-12年级）中文精英班的教学则由VCE中文部直接指导。

开设精英中文班的初衷是因为在我校各年级中文班里有不少学习“尖子”，他们的中文水平明显高出同龄学生，老师和家长们多次提出应该为这些孩子创造更好的学习机会。当时我校已有2000多学生，各个年级都有好几个班级，学校里更有很多教学经验丰富的优秀教师愿在海外华文教育上开拓、创新。这样，就在几位骨干教师的挑担下办起了第一批精英中文班。

精英班的开设是我校适应华文教学的发展需要，以及实施因材施教的教学原则的一项具体措施，目的是让进入精英班学习的学生学得更广、更深、更扎实，有机会在学中文上跳上一个新台阶。

经过16年精英班各年级不断的教学改进和发展，我校精英中文班不仅在华文教育上赢得口碑，还建立了一支稳定、优质的精英班教师团队。目前，各年级精英班学生的人数已超过一千但还无法满足越来越多希望在精英班里学好中文的学生的愿望。

二，我校精英班的教学特点

精英中文班从开设初期的几个班到现在已扩展到几十个班，吸引学生和家长的是“师资+教学”，重视教学和教学质量的管理是我们的重中之重。

基础中文精英班（1-9年级）开班伊始就有这么几大教学特点：第一，选用《中文》为教科书（目前此教材已推广到所有普通中文班使用），其特点是题材丰富，偏重故事、寓言，内容由浅入深，易记易背，而且图文并茂、生动活泼，适合少年儿童年龄特征的发展需要；第二，课堂教学形式多样，穿插日常生活用语，安排情景对话训练，注重口语交流和诵读，使用配套的中文声像读物，举办中文主题班会；第三，增加课外中文阅读和训练，开设中文兴趣活动，比如，说说唱唱、动手做做、玩玩乐乐等，让学生喜欢中文、爱学中文、学好中文。

高中中文（10-12年级，包括VCE11、12年级）精英班的教学特点：使用根据高考局VCE中文教学大纲的要求由本校自编的适合VCE中文第一语言、中文第二语言、中文第二语言高级组，以及汉语言、文化与社会课程的教材，注重学生“听、说、读、写、看”综合语言能力的全面提高，为学生定制个人VCE高考学习计划，更深层次的理解语言与文化的关系，增强文化认同，为将来的就业和人生规划打下扎实的基础。

三，我校精英班的教学成果

精英班以优质的中文教学为学生打下了扎实的中文基础，精英班的学生们晒出了亮丽的成绩：

在历年世界华人学生中文写作大赛屡获佳绩，基础中文（1-9年级）精英班学生获等级奖人数遥遥领先（几乎所有中、高年级的教师均获得国际作文大赛指导奖），高中（包括VCE11、12年级）精英班学生数次获得学生国际中文作文大赛的最高奖。

各年级精英班的学生在本校和维州华校联合会等举办的中文朗诵比赛、中文歌唱比赛、中华文化知识竞赛，以及国际汉字棋比赛中均获得好名次。

高中（包括VCE12年级）精英班的学生在历年的VCE中文高考中取得优异成绩，使到我校的中文高考成绩在维多利亚州始终保持名列前茅。仅2022年我校就有VCE12年级精英班学生考出高分（40分以上）的高分率达55%。

2022年社区语言学校中唯一一位中文高考满分学生，唯一一位因中文成绩优异获维州学生最高奖“州长奖”的中文学校的学生，就是来自我校VCE12年级精英班的。

四，精英班的入学条件和授课时间

我校各年级精英中文班均面向社区（校内校外），公开招生，统一考试，择优录取。欢迎所有有一定中文基础的各年级的学生申请报读精英班。

各年级精英班的具体招生报名和考试时间会有不同，考试形式也可能安排口试、笔试，或面试，或视频。请大家留意并点击如下招生报名通知：

精英班的授课时间为周六、周日上午、下午。

最后，我想跟大家补充说明几点：（1），我校各年级精英班有一定人数限制，如满额时需等候；（2），十几年来精英班成功的教学经验已经逐渐推荐到其它普通中文班，在普通班也能学好中文。实在想去精英班的要在有名额的情况下可再考入精英班学习；（3），精英班的教师也跟普通班的老师有兼顾并有互换的，无论是精英班还是普通班，我们始终保证优质的师资和优质的教学。这些也是新金山中文学校在华文教育上取得一定成功的重要因素。

Principal’s Message

Dear teachers, students and parents,

Last week, since I mentioned the 2024 enrolment is coming soon, many parents approached us enquiring about the enrolment of Accelerated Chinese Program (ACP). Today I would like to give you some more information about our ACP classes.

History of ACP classes
Since XJS established Year 1-4 ACP classes and Y10 intensive classes in 2007, the school has extended the ACP classes from year 1 to year 12 now. Year 1-9 ACP classes are delivered under the management of ACP department and Y10-12 ACP classes are under the leadership of VCE Chinese department.

The ACP classes were initially designed to cater for the specific learning needs of outstanding students whose Chinese levels are much higher than their peers and many teachers and parents proposed to give them extended learning opportunities. Due to the fact that there were quite a few classes in the same year level at the time and many experienced teachers would love to explore new teaching methods in Chinese language education, the first ACP classes were therefore established by a couple of leading teachers. It was a well-designed move to meet the development needs of Chinese language education at the time in accordance with the principles of invidualizing teaching approach to students’ aptitude, helping students to learn the language wider, deeper with more solid foundation.

After 16-year’s development and improvement, our ACP classes have been widely acknowledged and a loyal and outstanding teachers’ team has been largely appreciated in the field. Currently more than 1000 students are enrolled in our ACP classes in various year levels and there are more students presenting their intention of participation.

The features of ACP classes
The power behind the development of our ACP classes is ‘teachers + teaching methods”, which is also the focus of the school.

For Y1-9 ACP classes, we are specialised in these areas: 1. The textbook series Chinese is used for class learning (which has been adopted by all the Y1-9 Chinese classes now) with various topics focusing on stories and fables making them easily understood and accepted by young learners; 2. Flexible teaching methods supplemented with multimedia resources and various fun learning activities such as plays, dialogues practice and oral presentation have made students confident in Chinese communication; 3. Extra reading exercises with hands-on activities have encouraged students’ motivation in Chinese language learning.

Y10-12 including VCE Y11-12 ACP classes are more focused on the requirements of VCAA in Chinese First Language, Chinese Second Language, Chinese Second Language Advanced and Chinese Language, Culture and Society with XJS-designed learning materials, trying to improve students’ all-round language skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing with individually designed VCE study plans and strengthening students’ understanding of language and culture and their culture recognition, providing a solid foundation for their future work and career plan.

The outcome of ACP classes
With solid foundation formed by our ACP classes, students have made wonderful achievements in their Chinese language learning.

In various international writing competitions in the past few years, Y1-9 ACP class students have won overwhelming prizes and nearly all the ACP class teachers have obtained Excellent Instructor Awards; Many Y10-12 ACP class students have won the top prizes in international writing competitions.

In various Chinese reciting competition, Chinese singing competition, Chinese culture quiz and Chinese character chess competition organised by the school and Victorian Chinese Schools Association, ACP class students have obtained excellent rankings.

Y10-12 ACP class students have made great achievements in their final VCE Chinese exams, making XJS one of the top achievers in Victoria. In 2022, the high score (40+) rate in VCE12 ACP classes is 55%.

In 2022, the only VCE Chinese full-scorer among community language schools, who is also the only student receiving VCE Premier’s Award due to excellent VCE Chinese performance was from one of our VCE12 ACP classes.

Entry selection and class time
The entry selection tests are open to all the community members and you are more than welcome to register for entering the tests if you are confident with your Chinese proficiency.

The selection tests for each year level might be arranged in different time or date and the methods of testing including oral tests, written tests, interview or video presentation. Please pay attention to the relevant notices issued by the school:

The ACP classes are available on both Saturdays and Sundays in morning and afternoon sessions.

In the end, I would like to give you some additional information: (1) Places in each ACP class are limited and you might be put on the waiting list if the class is full. (2) The successful teaching methods of ACP classes have now been recommended to basic Chinese classes and students would benefit in learning in these classes as well. You could consider ACP classes when there are places available. (3) The teachers for ACP classes and basic classes may be exchanged and we would ensure the high teaching quality for both ACP classes and basic classes, which is also our key to success in Chinese language education.
