Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School
Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
I would like to inform you that Term 4 starts from this coming weekend (9/10 Oct). As instructed by DET, all the community language schools would continue with remote learning at this stage, which means, students of prep and year 1-12 classes would participate online learning (there is no class for Early Learning students) in Term 4.
Although the Victorian Government recently announced a roadmap that sets out a staged return to onsite learning for Victorian schools from Term 4, CLV has given us clear instruction that “Due to the increased risk of mixing of students from different schools, and in line with current public health advice, community language schools must continue with remote learning in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria” as our students come from different suburbs and areas. Please refer to www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au for more details.
I understand that remote learning has brought difficulties to our students and their families, especially our VCE 12 students. I encourage every member of our school community to receive Covid-19 vaccine if you are able and fit to do so. Now all the mainstream school’s staff and teachers are required to be vaccinated. It seems that only when most Victorians are vaccinated can we return to normal life.
I would like to appreciate the great efforts of VCE 12 students who haven’t stopped their learning during lockdown and attended the oral and written mock tests organised by our VCE program during the school holiday. I wish you all the best and hope you could achieve excellent results in the final VCE exams ahead.
Our teachers are attending teaching seminars to maintain the quality of teaching as usual in Term 4. We would soon organise students to participate the 22nd Worldwide Writing Competition for Chinese Students soon (free-themed) and it may become the writing part of Term 4 exam for some year levels. In the last few years, our students have presented excellent performance in this competition and I believe they can compose outstanding pieces of writing again this year.
The selective entry tests for year 1-12 Accelerated Chinese Program would start soon in Term 4. Please refer to our school notices and website announcements when the information is available.
Moreover, in Term 3, hundreds of students participated the 1st “Chinese Cup” Chinese Short Video Competition and 27 students have entered the second round. Please feel free to vote for them to show your support by the end of 14 October at https://react.showmine66.com/itemDetails?itemId=026ba3bb611f2b7c1229a6dfb59c9f1c
Stay safe and healthy. Let’s see you online this weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin Hu, Principal
