(07082020)Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School Principal’s Message
首先,全体维州居民外出必须强制性戴口罩;
其次,所有学校回归远程学习(我们学校已经全部实行网上教学。感谢所有老师、学生和家长的合作和支持,上个星期有超过一半年级的学生上网课出勤为满勤!);
1,宵禁:在9月13日之前,所有大都市地区的居民每天晚上8点至第二天早上5点不准出门;
2,购物:在非宵禁时间,每户家庭每日只准有1人可外出去购物,而且必须就近购物不得超过5公里,如果因为您的孩子的原因使您无法外出的话可带上孩子;
3,运动:每日只准一次外出运动限时1小时,最远距离不得超过5公里,最多限2人,如果因为您的孩子的原因使您无法外出的话可带上孩子;

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
As you have known, Stage 4 restrictions have been in place from 6pm on Sunday 2 August for metropolitan Melbourne and Stage 3 restrictions in place from 11:59pm on Wednesday 5 August for Regional Victoria, including Mitchell Shire. As a community language school and also a representative of the multicultural community, we have the responsibility forwarding all the relevant information about COVID-19 from the government to you to help all the community members stay safe and well. Here are the key points of the new restrictions.
Firstly, all the Victorians are required to wear face coverings when they leave home.
Secondly, all the students return to remote learning (all the XJS students are now in online learning. Thanks to the great support from teachers, students and parents, last weekend, over half of the classes had the full attendance record!)
Moreover, the Stage 4 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne include:
- From 2 August, curfews have been in operation in place in metropolitan Melbourne from 8pm to 5am every evening until 13th
- Only one person per household can leave home to get necessary goods and services once a day traveling up to 5km from home. If you are unable to leave home because it would mean leaving a young child or at-risk person at home unattended then they may accompany you.
- You can leave home to exercise once a day within one hour travelling no more than 5km. If you are a parent or guardian who is caring for a young child or someone who cannot be left unattended then they may accompany you.
- You can leave home to accompany someone for essential medical treatment if you are a parent, guardian or necessary support person. You may travel beyond 5km to the nearest provider.
Moreover, people living in Regional Victoria under Stage 3 Restrictions are only allowed to leave their house for shopping for necessary goods and services, medical care or caregiving, outdoor exercise and working or studying.

Chinese communities in Australia have been performing well in self-discipline against COVID-19. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has praised Chinese-Australians in multiple occasions for providing “one of the greatest defences” in stopping the spread of the virus and described Asian migrants as “leading the way” in Australia’s COVID-19 response, which Morrison believed putting Australia in a leading position in the world against the coronavirus.
Now we have to adapt and change the way how we live and work. We need to work together to go through this difficult time.
Wish you all safe and well. Let’s see you online on weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin Hu, Principal
