各位老师、同学和家长：
大家好！本学期至此澳洲疫情不仅依然严峻，同时流感随着冬季的降临而到来，两种病毒都对澳洲社会带来巨大的影响。我们学校社区的成员也不例外，近期有为数不少的老师和学生因病请假。我校把师生们的健康安全放在第一位，我们时刻关注教育部关于校园健康安全的各项最新举措并会及时落实。
这里，我想特别感谢我们的老师、同学和家长们，在目前每周都有老师和同学因病请假的情况下，大家表现出难能可贵的理解、关心和积极合作的精神，使我们的教学在这特殊时期仍然正常开展。我为我们学校社区有你们这样的成员感到欣慰。
我在这里鼓励大家为了健康安全请按照政府的要求及时接种流感疫苗。同时，鉴于疫情和流感的严重状况，为了全校师生们的健康安全，除了新冠检测阳性之外，所有发烧和有感冒症状的师生不要进入校园。除此之外，强烈建议进入校园的所有人必须戴好口罩，我们有责任有义务要竭尽全力阻止新冠病毒和流感病毒的传播和对我们的伤害。

还有几个大活动跟大家报告一下：
- 我校已有320多位学生报名参加中国各地侨联主办的网上夏令营活动，目前活动的准备工作正在进行之中，本周末之前会发出入营通知，请已报名的家长注意查收电邮。我了解到有些学生错过了报名截止期，我们正在和主办方联系，如有可能增补报名的话会及时通知大家。
- 我校有110多位学生报名参加首届五大洲华裔青少年汉字棋比赛。主办方将会安排适当的培训辅导，请还没有加入我校汉字棋师生群的学生和家长发信给学校（[email protected]）索取二维码入群接受比赛信息。
- 预告一项假期活动。应家长的要求，我校在北京华文学院的指导和帮助下，将在第二学期假期（6月27日-7月1日）在精英部校区举办为期5天的“中华文化大乐园”学生假期活动。我校曾连续10年成功举办了中华文化大乐园活动，深受广大学生和家长喜爱和欢迎，在社会上也产生了良好的影响，成为学校招牌之一。本次假期大乐园活动一如既往为非营利性活动（仅收取部分成本费用），但限额报名，有兴趣参加的同学请注意大乐园活动通知。
- 学校将为有一定书法基础的学生开展培训，并组织他们参加中国国内举办的国际华裔青少年书法比赛。由专业书法老师执教，免费培训。有兴趣的同学请发邮件报名。请注明你的姓名、年龄和联系电话，最好附上一份书法作品（限额20位）。电邮地址：[email protected]。

Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
Since the start of Term 2, the Covid-19 and flu has made great impact on our daily lives and recently many teachers and students have been away due to sickness. We always put the health and safety of our teachers and students in our first priority and strictly follow the relevant regulations required by DET and CLV.
I would like to present my sincere appreciation to all the teachers, students and parents for understanding and supporting each other when some teachers and students are away due to sickness and the school is operating smoothly during this special time thanks to your great support. I’m very proud of having you as our community members.
I encourage you to continue following covid regulations as usual and receive flu vaccination if possible as winter is coming. For the safety of all our school community, teachers and students with positive covid test results and flu-like symptoms and fever are required to stay at home. Meanwhile, we highly recommend that all the teachers, students and parents wear face masks to stop the spread of covid and flu virus.
I understand that worries about health increase your anxiety and I encourage all of us to care and support each other. If you are in great anxiety, please seek help from the following professional advisors.

I would also like to report some events of the school to you.
- 320 students have registered in online Chinese Culture Camp and we are soon going to send out the camp notice to all the registered students. Please check your email box recently. I know some students have missed the due date for registration. We are communicating with relevant Chinese authorities and would inform you if there is any opportunity of late registration.
- 110 students have registered for Chinese character chess competition and the organiser is going to provide training for the competition. If you have registered the event yet haven’t joined the relevant wechat group, please send email to [email protected] requesting for group QR code.
- A special holiday event Chinese Culture & Arts Camp is coming (27 June – 1 July) on the Junior Campus of Mt Waverley Secondary College during term 2 break. Our school has successfully organised the event in the past 10 years and it has turned to be the signature event of XJS. This year, the Chinese Culture & Arts Camp is non-for-profit as usual (low fees will be charged) and the places are limited. Please read our event notice later if you are interested.
- We would provide Chinese calligraphy training for students with relevant skills and organise them to participate in International Youth Chinese Calligraphy Competition later. The training is delivered by professional teachers and free of charge. If you are interested, please send email to [email protected] with your name, age, contact number and one piece of your Chinese calligraphy work (20 places available).
