(03/06/2023)Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School Principal’s Message

I would like to introduce you some important events organised by XJS (you can participate in some of them right away):
1. The enrolment for the first Chinese Culture Camp in China in 2023 has ended. With great support from teachers and parents of different campuses, 14 students have been accepted to participate the Zhijiang Camp in June. We have organised the first meeting for the participants and their parents and they are applying for Chinese visas now with the invitation letter from China. I would like to present my sincere appreciation to the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne for their great support. From 2011 to 2019, about 700 students of XJS have participated in the Chinese Culture Camp in China and the front desk staff and consuls for foreign affairs of Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne have given great support making sure the visas for our students could be processed smoothly. We have also kept a good record of non-incident in China and non-delay returning to Australia. I will let you know the reports of other camps when available.
2. Several online Chinese Culture Camp are coming soon. The online Chinese Culture Camp is designed for youngsters born outside China learning Chinese culture and history and the event has been largely applauded by our students and parents. In the last three years, hundreds of XJS students have participated in the events learning Chinese culture through listening to stories and watching videos online and their interest in Chinese language and culture has been greatly encouraged. According to the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the excellent participants in online Chinese Culture Camp would enjoy the priority enrolling in Chinese Culture Camp in China.
At moment, Xiamen Camp of Fujian and Wuwei Camp of Gansu would start in mid-June and Zhaoqing Camp of Guangdong and Yuyao Camp of Zhejiang would be available in Term 3 (there would be some places available for the camps in China separately). Students above year 4 are highly encouraged to join the online Chinese Culture Camp especially Year 9, 10 and 11 students who would benefit a lot in better understanding Chinese culture. Our teachers would take the roles of class teachers in online Chinese Culture Camp as volunteers supporting students in culture learning and they would be very happy to accompany our students in the events in China. You are more than welcome to join more than one online Chinese Culture Camp by clicking here.
3. We are pleased to announce that NIU Wanqing, GUO Yilin and YANG Xianyao have gained the Second Prize and Third Prize in the 22nd Camellia Cup Overseas Chinese Students Chinese Calligraphy Competition under the instruction of the teacher Mr MAI Canming. Big congratulations to them. The 23rd competition is scheduled in August with the theme “Heart to Heart, @Future”.
