Principal’s Message
Dear teachers, students and parents,
I would like to talk about the security and safety of campus today. The focus of our campus security is making sure no teachers and students get injured on campus. As the renovation project on the senior campus of MWSC is coming to an end by the end of June, there are still a bit traffic jam on and around the campus during peak time and please make sure you drive safely on campus and taking good care of your child/ren when walking on campus. I would like to let you know that members of Chinese Professionals Club of Australia (CPCA) have come to our school working as volunteers supervising the security of our campuses on weekends. Many of them used to be yard duty volunteers of XJS when their children were learning Chinese in our school years ago. We are pleased to welcome them back with more CPCA members keeping this wonderful tradition working as volunteers of XJS. I would like to present my sincere appreciation to all the volunteers from CPCA.
The focus of our campus safety is keeping our teachers and students healthy and well on campus. As the winter is coming, we must be alert about the spread of flu and covid in communities.
It’s recommended that all our teachers, students and parents wear face masks when entering the campus and take rapid antigen test if you have flu-like symptoms. If you test positive for COVID-19, report your positive rapid antigen test result by calling the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398. If your child is test positive, please inform us by phone call or email.
If you test positive for COVID-19, you should isolate for at least 5 days or as long as you have symptoms. If your family members test positive, please take the antigen test everyday making sure you are test negative before coming to school.
The best way to protect ourselves and others is to follow the health instructions. Let’s work together to maintain a safe learning environment for our children.
The second topic I would like to talk about is the holiday programs. Many parents approached me recently claiming that they are not planning to travel during school holidays due to the concerns of covid and would like to know whether there are any online holiday programs available.
I would like to let you know that the online Chinese Culture Camp has been largely applauded in the past three years and hundreds of XJS students have participated and benefited from the program. Participants are expected to listen to stories and watch videos about Chinese history and culture online and complete specific learning tasks including handcrafting and performing arts and our students have been busy and happy with well-designed activities. Therefore, it is a wonderful choice if you would stay at home during term breaks.
During Term 2 break, there will be two online Chinese Culture Camp available. Wuwei Camp is from 17 June to 26 June and Xiamen Camp is from 18 June to 27 June. If you are interested, please register by this coming Sunday (11 June) by clicking here.
Keep your family members healthy and well. Let’s see you on campus this weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Kevin Hu, Principal
